John,

Gabriela and her husband, Miguel, came to the U.S. together with a temporary work visa. They were told they would pick vegetables on a farm for the harvest season.

But when they arrived, they discovered they had been deceived by a trafficker

Will you help workers like Gabriela and Miguel? Now through the end of the year, your gift will go twice as far with a special match.

YES, I WANT TO HELP!

The trafficker forced Gabriela and Miguel to work 18-hour days in a meat-packing facility. He paid them almost nothing, took away their passports so they couldn’t leave, and told them they owed $20,000 they needed to work off before he would let them go.

After months of endless labor, a visitor to the facility noticed the suspicious working conditions and Gabriela and Miguel’s exhaustion, and passed along to them the contact information for the National Human Trafficking Hotline. When she found a safe moment, Gabriela called for help.

And the generosity of this community enabled us to respond.

Together with a Hotline Advocate, Gabriela made a safe exit plan for her and her husband, found emergency housing and transport, and got a referral for legal assistance — the first steps toward reclaiming their freedom.

Every year, we hear from thousands of survivors like Gabriela and Miguel. Your support for Polaris means that a Hotline Advocate is always available to answer the call when they reach out for help.
