Preventing hair discrimination in schools: can we improve our resources?

To mark two years since publishing resources to help end hair discrimination in schools, we are launching a survey to continue evaluating the impact of our resources.
Research from World Afro Day showed that 77% of schools do not know that hair discrimination exists. As the equality regulator for Britain, it’s our mission to ensure all pupils are treated equally and fairly. While we all have a collective responsibility to stand up against discrimination, by introducing these resources we are taking another positive step forward in creating a fairer Britain.
Our practical resources, including supporting videos and a decision-making tool to refer to when drafting relevant school policies, will help school leaders make their environments more inclusive and prevent hair discrimination that may result from policies that don’t take account of equality law.
We are asking those involved in education to complete a short survey about the resources to help with our evaluation. Your participation in this survey will help us continue to address this serious issue.
Please share the survey with anyone who may be able to complete it.
We would value your feedback by 5pm on Friday 17 January 2025. | | Complete the hair discrimination survey | |
