G’day John,
I need your help to stop the Labor and the Liberal/National Party from choosing bags of taxpayers’ cash over our democracy.
The Labor Party has introduced the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Reform) Bill 2024. This Bill will take taxpayers’ money and give it to the Labor and Liberal/National Party, making each Party richer by 19 million bucks.
To stop this, I’ve created a petition that tells Mr Dutton not to support the Bill.
This is serious. Our democracy is at stake.
On Tuesday, Senator David Pocock and I moved a motion in the Senate to refer the Bill to the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters for inquiry. This would’ve given a fair hearing to everyone’s concerns.
Shock horror… the Labor Party and the Liberal/National Party teamed up to shut it down.
When more people are moving away from the major parties, the duopoly is ganging up to put our democracy into a chokehold.
The Bill is bad – there’s no two ways about it.
It’s crafted to benefit the Labor and the Liberal/National partiesy exclusively. The coffers of the duopoly will be exempt, and it’ll gift each major party millions of dollars straight out of the taxpayers’ pocket during a cost of living crisis.
I remortgaged my house to get re-elected. Everyday Australians shouldn’t have to mortgage their homes just to give politics a go, simply because they don’t want to join a major party.
I’ve put a lot on the line.
I don’t want it to be even harder for anyone else who wants to represent their community.
Spread the word far and wide. Sign and share our petition: www.lambienetwork.com.au/pages/electoralreform
Together, we can stick it to the major parties.
