Tomorrow, Congress is voting on H.R. 9495, a bill that threatens free speech and the vital work of nonprofits advocating for justice, peace, and human rights. We need your voice to stop the passage of this bill.Â
H.R. 9495 would give the Secretary of the Treasury sweeping powers to label nonprofits as supporting foreign terrorist organizations—without due process or evidence. This bill dangerously expands the narrative that advocating for an end to genocide or supporting humanitarian efforts is akin to endorsing terrorism.

If passed, this legislation could lead to political witch hunts, forcing organizations to shut down or silence their work out of fear of government reprisal.
We must act now. Supporting terrorism is already illegal under robust laws with clear procedures. This bill isn’t about fixing a problem—it’s about silencing dissent and targeting movements for peace and justice, particularly those advocating for Palestinian rights.
At MPAC, we are working tirelessly to oppose H.R. 9495 in Congress, but we need you to amplify this fight.
