Dear friend,

“Are you a change maker?” That’s the opening line of an advertisement currently running on large electronic billboards inside airports. I don’t know what the ad is about since I don’t break my walk long enough to see the full clip. But the title “change maker” certainly sounds lofty, empowering passersby, I suppose, to decide whether their life is sufficiently consequential.

When I think of our individual donors to the Christian Century, I already know their lives are consequential. By God’s grace, they are! So, the name I want to apply to them is “difference maker,” not “change maker.” If you want to be a difference maker for one of the most significant organizations in American religious life, read on.

The Christian Century has an immediate opportunity that I hope you’ll take advantage of. We have a matching gift offer, thanks to two friends of the Century who have stepped up to create a way for you to enlarge your own donation. This couple is offering a $50,000 challenge match.
