As Trump confirms his cruel anti-immigrant policy agenda, the Attorney General is preparing to fight back.
Donald Trump isn’t even back in the White House yet and he’s already announced his plans for mass deportations of immigrants, threatening to tear apart millions of families and communities across our nation.
But Democratic leaders like Rob are ready to fight back. Will you power our campaign with a grassroots donation of $5?
On Monday, Trump confirmed his administration’s plans to:
- Declare a national emergency to mobilize the military and conduct “the largest deportation operation" in U.S. history;
- Bring back his federal ban on immigrants from certain Muslim-majority countries;
- Use the 1798 Alien and Sedition Acts — the same laws used to place thousands of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders into internment camps during World War II — to detain and deport immigrants without a hearing.
This would have a huge impact on California: our state is home to the largest number of immigrants in the nation. Rob spoke to ABC 10News San Diego this week to explain how our state is preparing to protect our immigrant communities from these cruel and unconstitutional attacks.
Rob and his team at the Department of Justice have spent months drafting legal strategies and briefs on mass deportations, birthright citizenship, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and sanctuary cities. California state law prohibits local agencies from cooperating with ICE or other federal immigration enforcement agencies, so Rob’s office will release a bulletin reminding law enforcement that they cannot assist Trump’s mass deportation plan.
The Attorney General will use the full force of the law and the full authority of his office to protect and defend California’s immigrant communities from any unlawful action Trump takes.
As Rob told ABC News, “There will be pain and harm inflicted by [Trump]. It is not all avoidable, but to get to our immigrant communities in ways that are in violation of the law, they're going to have to go through me, and we will stop them in courts using our legal tools given to us.”
If you have Rob’s back in this critical fight, consider making a grassroots contribution to support him today.
