Friend,

Essential workers across the country are working in high-risk conditions, often without access to personal protective equipment, sick leave, or basic job protections. They also happen to be among the lowest-paid workers in the country.

I'm immensely grateful for everything that all of our essential workers are doing to keep us safe, and today, I'd like to say thank you.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, grocery store employees, domestic workers, food service workers, residential building staff, janitorial staff, farmworkers, delivery drivers, warehouse workers, transportation workers, and so many more who are fighting this crisis on the frontlines. You are the backbone of our nation's response to coronavirus, and we owe so much to you.

But it's not enough to just say thank you -- essential workers are fighting for us, and it's our responsibility to fight for them. They're making incredible sacrifices and taking enormous risks to provide our nation with important services. In this crisis, they've stepped up to support us all. It's time we do the same for them.

I'm fighting to give workers on the front lines of this crisis hazard pay, safe working conditions, health care coverage, proper protective gear, job protections, and paid sick leave. They deserve protection, and the federal government must provide it.

Again, thank you to the essential workers helping us through this pandemic. We couldn't do it without you.

Best,
Nydia
