Chair's Corner

Aloha Fellow Republicans,

As we reflect on where we are as a party and as a state, I want to take a moment to connect with you on some truths and share a vision for our path forward. Recently, Charlie Kirk, speaking on Real America’s Voice during his segment, “You Woke Up Closer to Nuclear War Than Ever Before,” reminded us of the dangers of unchecked power.

Charlie Kirk is a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, has addressed similar concerns that may mirror internal divisions within the party. He emphasizes the need to focus on solutions and unity rather than internal conflicts that can hinder progress. It’s a sobering reality, not just globally, but also here at home.

Too often, we see the same destructive behavior from those within our own ranks who would rather tear down progress than work for unity. These individuals prioritize control over collaboration, undermining everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve. There are individuals in our party who choose division over unity, hatred over solutions, and destruction over growth.

These obstructionists act like the very forces we oppose, putting personal agendas above the betterment of our party, our state, and our nation. It’s critical we evaluate the words of the obstructionists to understand their intentions. How do and their words align with their actions? Do they build unity or sow discord? Do they misuse the word of God as a tool for personal gain? Do they contribute to our shared success, or simply take credit for the efforts of others?

Let us remember the true strength of the Hawaii Republican Party lies in the grassroots efforts of our members, and their families. It also lies in the collective efforts of everyday people like you, our grassroots and patriots. Over this past election cycle, we rallied, knocked on doors, held town halls, volunteered as poll watchers, donated time, and stood together. We achieved real results with four more Republican officials elected and an increased percentage in voter turnout. These victories didn’t come from one person or one group...they were a reflection of many factions of efforts here in Hawaii.

Yet, while we celebrate progress, there’s more to do. We must start looking for leaders for the next election cycle 2026, who embody true aloha and who are leaders who put the people of Hawaii first. Hawaii may be a blue state by default, but in my travels across the islands, I’ve found something inspiring, the vast majority of people share the values we fight for. They value family, faith, freedom, and fairness. They’re looking for solutions, not rhetoric. These are the values embedded in our platform, and they resonate with the people of Hawaii.

The challenge isn’t whether these values exist... It's about how we communicate and educate. It’s about opening doors for conversations and empowering people to take the right path and get involved. Together, we can find the way.
At the same time, we must hold our elected officials accountable. Why are they making decisions that seem to work against the people instead of for them? Why are they burdening homeowners, especially generational families, with taxes and red tape?
Let’s ask some tough questions:
  • Why is Hawaii ranked as one of the most corrupt states in the nation?
  • Why are we selling our land to foreign investors instead of protecting it for the future of Hawaii’s families?
  • Why are generations of local families being forced to leave the state they love?
  • Why haven’t our leaders introduced initiatives to support our kupuna by eliminating property taxes for those over 65?
  • Why? Why? Why?
These are not just questions, they’re calls to action. It’s not enough to ask "why." We must stand together and demand better. We must advocate for leadership that will bring compassion, fairness, and integrity back to Hawaii. Leadership that ensures our people can thrive without living in fear of losing their homes or their livelihoods.

Our mission isn't simply just to win elections, it’s to build a future where Hawaii families can prosper, where the aloha spirit thrives, and where we truly put people first. This will take all of us. We need to grow our base, train new leaders, and inspire participation at every level.

I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together. And I believe that our best days are ahead. Let’s hold fast to our values and let those values guide us in building a brighter, stronger, and more hopeful Hawaii.

Mahalo for your commitment to this cause, and for walking this journey with me; together we can bring the change we need.

With aloha and gratitude,
Tamara McKay
