Why is the Trump administration rushing to finish up these rollbacks during a global pandemic -- when anyone would argue their attention should probably be elsewhere?
Because the Trump administration needs to finish these rollbacks in case Democrats take back the Congress and the White House in November -- otherwise, Democrats can reverse the changes. Even during a time of national crisis, the Trump administration only has politics on their mind.
The New York Times found that not only will these rollbacks significantly increase greenhouse gas emissions, but could also lead to thousands of extra deaths from poor air quality each year. All this, during a pandemic that attacks our respiratory system -- it's unconscionable and deeply personal to me and I imagine to so many of you, too.
