Dear John,
As we gather with our families this holiday season, it is a time to give thanks for the bonds of love that hold us together. Yet, we are reminded of how fragile those bonds can be in today's politically charged environment. The recent election has dialed up divisions within families to an alarming degree.
Many individuals are proudly announcing on social media how they plan to cut off loved ones simply because of their political beliefs. In fact, more than a quarter of Americans are reportedly estranged from a close family member, with many citing political differences as the reason. This is a heartbreaking reality that underscores just how deeply divided our country has become.
Even Ivy League psychologists have been promoting the idea that it is "essential" to cut off family members over political differences, arguing that such boundaries are necessary for mental health.
But we must remember that our calling as Christians is to love unconditionally, even when it is difficult. The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 12:18: "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." We are called to be peacemakers, to show grace and compassion, and to strive for unity -- especially within our own families.
Unfortunately, cancel culture has extended beyond public figures and online debates; it has now infiltrated our homes, threatening the very foundation of society: the family. Family Research Council recognizes that the family is the cornerstone of civilization, designed by God to be the primary place where love, virtue, and values are nurtured.
The Bible clearly demonstrates that the family is the building block of society. And without strong families, you cannot have a strong and vibrant nation. When our families break down, society as a whole suffers.
The family is God's design, and anything that honors God is a target for destruction by the enemy, Satan.
That is why FRC has been fighting for families since 1983, advocating for public policies that uphold the sanctity of marriage, the value of life, and the importance of religious liberty.
When you partner with us, you're planting a stake in the ground and committing to stand for the values of faith, family, and freedom.

However, the threats to the family are not just cultural -- they are political as well.
The radical Left is actively pursuing policies that are anti-family, from eroding parental rights in education to pushing gender ideology on our kids to promoting abortion up to the point of birth.
They have been working to indoctrinate our children through the education system for years, with the U.S. Department of Education promoting curricula that undermine traditional values, including critical race theory and radical gender ideology.
But the radical Left isn't content to simply indoctrinate your children; they will even take them away from their parents if the parents refuse to comply with their agenda.
California's law, AB 665, exemplifies the dangerous path the radical Left is taking in its war against the family. This law allows children as young as 12 to be removed from their parents' homes without a court order if they are deemed to need mental health treatment, which includes so-called "gender-affirming care." Even more concerning, this decision can be made by "interns" or "trainees," without requiring a credible finding of abuse or neglect.
These anti-family policies are why FRC's work is so critical. With your partnership, we are advocating for pro-family policies on Capitol Hill and across the nation and equipping believers to stand against the cultural and political forces that seek to destroy their families. We do this through our Center for Biblical Worldview, our radio and TV program Washington Watch, our news outlet The Washington Stand, and more!
PARTNER WITH FRC
This election cycle has shown us how political divisions have led to heartbreaking estrangement within families across the country, and we must be vigilant against the catalysts of this division.
The family is a gift from God, and it is our responsibility to protect and nurture it.
Let's be encouraged to stand firm in our faith, knowing that the work we do together is making a difference. By advocating for pro-family legislation, defending parental rights, and protecting our children from harmful ideologies, we ensure a future in which families can thrive in love and unity.
As we work to advance family-centered policies, we're also praying that God will bless and protect you and your family.
When we stand together, we can make a difference -- one family at a time.
Thank you,
Family Research Council
