John,
First, thank you for opening this email. After the election, most people just check out, but we keep working. Honestly, just knowing that you’re reading this is a huge boost. We’re switching to far fewer emails at this point because it’s a less intense time in the campaign, but the building still has to happen. It’s hard to overstate, actually, how essential it is that it happens now.
Campaigns are won in the off-year. It’s that simple. We won this seat, but it took spending nearly $3 million in the span of 4 months–with ads, staff, and gas in our cars. We didn’t raise it all in 4 months, though. We built it over the course of two years, slowly, steadily, and with intention.
Believe me when I say–our earliest supporters in the re-election mean the world to me. While most Americans tune out and forget about elections until October 2 years from now, I’m still here working. It can get lonely. Having folks like you in my corner as we rebuild means so much.
We face difficult challenges ahead. With a Republican House majority, making progress on the most important issues to Michiganders–including lowering costs and safeguarding reproductive rights–will be a tougher battle.
I plan to use these next few weeks to recharge, strategize, and prepare to deliver results for Michiganders and lay out the building blocks for our next victory. In the meantime, I hope you’ll stick around and support our efforts with a contribution of any amount.

Grateful to have your support,
Hillary
