This is what the NRA is doing to our youth.
John, yesterday the New York Times shared some startling facts.
Child mortality rates in the U.S. have seen a sharp increase since 2019, despite medical advancements. Why?
Guns. More specifically, preventable shootings from unchecked access to firearms and a national climate of gun glorification funded by the NRA.
Once upon a time, about three decades ago, the CDC began to uncover the true danger of guns. When the NRA caught wind of this, Congress barred the CDC from spending money to “advocate or promote gun control.”
Sadly, gun violence has now become the leading cause of death among children, surpassing car accidents for the third year in a row. U.S. gun deaths are equivalent to 52 school buses of children crashing each year, according to the NYT.
We’re now also seeing that Black and Native American children are dying at higher rates than white children — widening a racial disparity that was just starting to narrow. This is unacceptable. The NRA and every single politician sitting in their back pocket have blood on their hands.
