Legislative Update
National Apprenticeship Week
*National Apprenticeship Week*

This week, we proudly celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, a time to highlight the powerful impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, and communities across America. Apprenticeships are more than job training—they are pathways to opportunity. Apprenticeships equip workers with the skills they need to succeed in high-demand industries, from manufacturing and construction to healthcare and technology.

For businesses, apprenticeships are a proven strategy to develop a skilled workforce and ensure future growth. For individuals, they offer a unique opportunity to earn while learning, paving the way for rewarding careers without the burden of student debt. In our state, we’ve seen how apprenticeships can transform lives.

One amazing woman I know who has worked her way through an apprenticeship is my daughter Olivia. She has put in the effort through many welding certifications and is now an underwater welder. I’m very proud of the hard work she continues to do.

As we celebrate this week, let’s continue to support and expand these programs that bridge the skills gap, empower workers, and strengthen our economy.

*Election Results*

After the results of the November 5th election, I am honored to continue serving the people of District 17A as State Representative. This upcoming legislative session will be historic in that it is only the second time in Minnesota's history that the state House has been split evenly with 67 Republicans and 67 Democrats. It will be interesting to see how the structure of the House plays out as every single vote will require at least one member from the opposite party to pass.

I think this will be great for Minnesota because now the entire state budget will require true bipartisan legislation and any changes to Minnesota statute will require actual collaboration. This will also give our caucus more power in that we will be able to put a stop to any legislation that is absolutely non-negotiable for us.
