ABOUT THE PROGRAM
California’s TK–12 funding formula directs extra dollars to districts with large shares of high-need students. The formula has long relied on free-and-reduced-price-meal (FRPM) enrollment as a proxy for low-income students, but recent changes complicate FRPM’s accuracy. PPIC researchers will discuss a new report that examines these complications, assesses the impact of recent policy changes, and explores alternative measures of student need.
This research and event are supported with funding from the Sobrato Family Foundation, the Stuart Foundation, and the Windy Hill Fund.
