Hi John, John A. constantly hears the alarms go off at a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility that’s just one mile from his home. People like John fear they live near a ticking time bomb. That's because LNG operators aren’t required to share information with the public about the highly toxic chemicals stored at the plants and how an accidental explosion could impact neighbors. Despite knowing the risk to communities and the environment, Big Oil and Gas continues to fight hard to more than double America’s LNG export capacity. For them, it’s not about people, public safety or a healthy environment. It’s about power and money, pure and simple. They know that an incoming Trump Administration would protect Big Oil and Gas and ensure less oversight into LNG operations, which would be disastrous to the public and environment. President Biden can do something to stop a massive expansion of LNG exports right now! The Oil and Gas industry is very well aware that every ounce of gas fracked from Texas, Pennsylvania, Colorado and other states and shipped overseas is one more step towards climate disaster. They don’t care. Because every ounce of LNG stored and shipped is just another dollar in the bank for fossil fuel CEOs. The Department of Energy is currently reviewing all pending LNG export permits. They have the power to reject all pending permits. Tell President Biden that his Department of Energy must reject these permits now. Earlier this year, 600,000 Americans told the Biden Administration to curb dangerous, unlimited LNG exports. Climate scientists, public health professionals, consumer advocates, national security experts and frontline communities raised their voices about the risks of this reckless buildout. The Administration listened, paused permits and is now reviewing them. The time to act is now before it’s too late. If the Department of Energy doesn’t act soon, its actions won’t go into effect before Trump takes office.
