We’re calling to change two unfair parts of the Social Security law that could reduce retirement benefits for millions of postal and federal workers.

Hi John,

Last week, we asked you to call your representative about two unfair parts of the Social Security law—and a bill that would restore retirement fairness and full retirement benefits for millions of hardworking Americans.

That bill passed the House of Representatives and is now awaiting a vote in the Senate.

Can you make a call? If you called the House, you can call again to reach your senator and encourage them to vote for the Social Security Fairness Act. → https://go.aflcio.org/ssfa

Here’s more about what this legislation would do. During Ronald Reagan’s administration, the government cut the hard-earned retirement benefits of millions of workers. Their Social Security checks were slashed if they took a second job after they retired; benefits were even reduced for their surviving spouse.

The bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act (S. 597) would restore fairness and increase many workers’ Social Security benefits.

Encourage your senator to work with leadership to get a floor vote on the Social Security Fairness Act before the end of the session.https://go.aflcio.org/ssfa

This legislation can make a huge difference in the lives of millions of workers. Everyone deserves to retire with dignity.

Thank you for taking action.

In Solidarity,

Team AFL-CIO
