John,
Over the past year, the IRS has recovered $1.3 billion from wealthy tax cheats, money that now funds public services like healthcare for veterans and child care for working families.[1] It also launched the Direct File program, saving taxpayers millions of dollars in tax preparation fees during the 2024 pilot program and cutting average phone wait times for IRS assistance from 28 minutes down to just 3.[2] This progress shows that when the IRS has the resources it needs, it delivers for everyone.
But all of that is now at risk. Congressional Republicans are pushing to slash $20 billion from IRS enforcement funding, gutting the agency’s ability to hold billionaires and big corporations accountable.[3] If their cuts succeed, 90% of the resources meant to last the IRS a decade will vanish, letting the ultra-rich continue to evade taxes while forcing families like yours to foot the bill.
This is a fight for fairness and accountability. That’s why we've sent more than 68,000 messages to Congress to defend the IRS's ability to crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats.
But we're up against millionaires and billionaires who want to continue evading taxes, and a corporate tax prep industry that wants to do away with Direct File to protect their profits and rip off taxpayers.
Stand with us to protect IRS funding and stop billionaires from rigging the system. Donate today to defend the IRS and build a fair tax system for all!
Every dollar the IRS fails to collect from tax cheats is a dollar taken away from vital investments in our communities and an increase in your share of taxes. The GOP’s assault on the IRS isn’t just a budget cut, it’s a handout to their tax-evading billionaire donors and the tax prep industry at the expense of honest taxpayers.
If these cuts pass, it will cripple enforcement, making it impossible to track complex tax schemes and offshore accounts used by the wealthy to evade billions in taxes.
The bottom line is we can’t let billionaires and their hand-picked politicians rig the system in their favor.

John,
When wealthy tax cheats don’t pay what they owe, working families suffer. But thanks to recent funding increases for the IRS, we’ve seen game-changing progress:
-
Over $1.3 billion in back taxes recovered from high-income tax dodgers.[1]
-
Average wait times for taxpayer-assistance calls reduced from 28 minutes to just 3 minutes.[2]
-
Direct File, a new program providing free online tax filing, saved thousands of taxpayers millions of dollars in fees during the 2024 pilot period.[3]
These are the victories we’ve fought for and what’s at risk if Republicans succeed in their effort to gut the IRS. They’re potentially planning a $20 billion cut to IRS enforcement funding, eliminating 90% of resources needed to crack down on wealthy tax cheats.[4]
Congress has until December 20th to pass the budget Republicans would use to gut the IRS. Together, we’ve already sent over 68,000 messages to Congress, demanding they defend the tax agency.
While millionaires and billionaires, and the for-profit tax prep industry, are working to defund the IRS, we’re providing critical grassroots pressure to protect the agency, taxpayers, and all of the progress it (and we) have made.
Fight back against Republican attacks on the IRS. Chip in $10, $25, or more to help us defend IRS funding and crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats.
If the special funding provided by the Biden administration’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act is clawed back as the GOP wants, the IRS will be severely hampered in its ability to track offshore accounts and complex schemes used by wealthy tax cheats. At the same time, Republican lawmakers are doubling down on their attack by proposing further cuts to the agency’s regular annual budget. This two-front assault would devastate enforcement, leaving our tax code wide open for abuse.
IRS enforcement ensures millionaires and billionaires pay what they owe. Every tax dollar collected from tax cheats translates into investments for communities nationwide. The money the IRS recovers from wealthy tax evaders funds services we all rely on: healthcare for veterans, child care to support working families, and protections for workers on the job.
But the GOP wants to roll back this progress to protect their wealthy, tax-evading donors. If their proposed cuts are enacted, the rich will continue to evade paying what they owe in taxes while YOU pick up the tab.
We can’t let that happen. With your help, we can hold the line and make sure the IRS has the resources it needs to crack down on wealthy tax cheats.
Fight back against attacks on the IRS by donating today. Your contribution powers our campaign to defend the IRS and demand that tax laws are enforced fairly.
