Update message from Frank Porter, Acting Chair
Special Election, CD 25 May 12 - Christy Smith conceded in the special election on Wednesday, May 13. The race moves on from here with both her and Garcia facing off against each other again in the November general election. We will likely have better Democratic turnout in that race due to it being tied to the Presidential election and we will not have to navigate through the initial shock of the pandemic.
A key takeaway from the CD-25 May 12 Special Election -None of the 7 seats we picked up in 2018 in California are safe. The path to the Democratic House majority runs through California, and we cannot afford to lose any ground. We will need all the help we can get to win critical races across the state.
The good news in El Dorado County is that we're continuing to see increasing Democratic voter registration and turnout in our March 3 Primary, along with a remarkable pivot to virtual campaigning and organizing. At our May 19th DCC meeting, our Data Research Team will be sharing a few of the voter and election charts that they've created. Get ready for some "Ah ha" moments!
