I decided to run for Congress to continue serving my country and our people in whatever capacity I could, and I am humbled that Virginia’s 7th district elected me to do so.
Donald Trump has appointed to his cabinet some unqualified loyalists who will pledge their undying support to him. These appointments are frightening, irresponsible, and dangerous. But I am not afraid to hold power to account, no matter what comes my way.

As a member of Congress, I will have a constitutional obligation not only to represent the voters who have elected me but also to be a check and balance on the President’s power. My interests are to improve the lives of the voters of the 7th Congressional District and all Americans — even if I risk retribution from Trump — and I will do my very best to deliver.
