Hi Fellow Young Democrat,

Join us for our state convention on June 20th, 2020.

We will gather as members of the Indiana Young Democrats and renew our pledge to increase engagement amongst young voters and elect more young Democrats to office. We will have training sessions to prepare us to lead in our own communities across the state and hear from game-changers making a difference in our political atmosphere. We will also elect our officers for the 2020-21 term.

Trainings

Our commitment to our membership doesn’t stop just because we can’t meet in person. Virtual trainings will be available to give our members the resources they need to make a difference.



Elections

We’re excited to transition to new leadership and celebrate the Democratic process! Officers will be elected for a one year term.

We are proud to provide our members a space where they can foster new relationships with fellow activists from across the state.

Registration


** IYD Members
------------------------------------------------------------

All United States residents registered to vote in Indiana, unless unable to register, or physically residing in Indiana, no younger than fourteen (14) years of age, and any person who has not yet reached the age of thirty-six (36) are eligible to be members of Indiana Young Democrats. Any person eligible to be a member of the Indiana Young Democrats shall register and pay the annual $5 dues not later than June 10, 2020 in order to be considered a member in good standing and vote at the convention.

A person who resides in Indiana but cannot legally contribute to the Indiana Young Democrats may register for the convention, inform the President of their inability to contribute because of a legal prohibition, and be granted a waiver in order to be considered a member in good standing. Send requests to [email protected] Democrats who attend and do not sign up and pay their dues will not be eligible to vote.


** General Public and non-IYD Members

Members of the general public may attend our convention to watch our guest speakers, participate in training sessions, and to learn more about the Indiana Young Democrats. There is no fee for general registration but we do encourage the public to consider donating to our cause ([link removed]) to help elect young Democrats to office across the state.

Voting at Convention


** IYD Members
------------------------------------------------------------

The Indiana Young Democrats will conduct our business during the convention including electing our leadership for the 2020-21 term. In order for members to be eligible to vote, they must have paid their $5 annual dues. The election of officers shall be conducted using electronic voting. Each member in good standing, after registering for the convention, shall be given instructions for how to cast a ballot when voting begins at the convention. Each member in good standing attending the convention shall be able to access their ballot at the time stated in the convention agenda for the election of officers to begin. Voting for officers at the convention shall last thirty (30) minutes.

A member in good standing who cannot attend the convention and resides in a congressional district where a contest for an office exists may request to vote by absentee ballot using the same electronic voting platform that will be used at the convention. A member in good standing may request an absentee ballot at the time registration for the convention begins. Each member in good standing that requests a ballot shall be provided an absentee ballot beginning May 30, 2020. The deadline to request to vote by absentee ballot and cast an absentee ballot shall be June 17, 2020.
