John,
Inspectors general play a critical role in ensuring government integrity through independent oversight. They ensure agencies are doing their jobs properly, spending money wisely and following the rules. And if they find problems, like waste, fraud or abuse, they investigate and suggest ways to fix them.
So, at a time when public trust in government is low, and President-elect Trump has signaled that his second term will be even more corrupt than his first, these nonpartisan watchdogs will play a critical role.
But right now there are ten vacant IG positions throughout the executive branch and in agencies that touch every aspect of American life. Five of these vacancies, including those at the Department of Treasury and National Security Agency, have a presidential nominee awaiting Senate confirmation.
The Senate must hold votes as soon as possible on those pending IG nominations.
That’s why CREW led 18 other organizations in sending this letter urging Majority Leader Schumer to prioritize voting on these inspector general nominees without delay – and we want you to add your name to our letter too.
Click here to sign your name and urge the Senate to confirm these nominees as soon as possible →
Time is running short to confirm these nominees before Trump’s administration takes office, so your urgent action helps us put on the pressure.
Thanks,
CREW HQ
