Passing a constitutional amendment to protect reproductive rights in Virginia is essential to safeguarding the fundamental right to abortion access for future generations.
Here are the steps we must complete:
FIRST: The General Assembly will vote on Senate Joint Resolution No.1 and House Joint Resolution No.1, marking the first step toward securing a constitutional amendment to protect reproductive rights. Both resolutions need a simple majority in each chamber to pass.
SECOND: In November 2025, Virginia voters will head to the polls to elect a Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and the entire House of Delegates. The outcome of these elections will be critical in determining the future of reproductive rights in the state.
THIRD: If pro-choice leadership remains in control of the House of Delegates, the General Assembly will vote again on the two joint resolutions. If they pass a second time, the amendment will proceed to the next stage without needing the Governor’s approval.
FOURTH: The proposed amendment will appear on the ballot in November 2026, and voters will have the final say in enshrining reproductive rights in Virginia's constitution.
This amendment is not just about protecting the right to choose—it’s about defending the broader values of privacy, bodily autonomy, and freedom. It will take two full years of dedication to pull this off, and we need your help.
This will be a lengthy process, and your support will be critical at every stage to ensure the amendment advances. Will you rush $25 or more to join our mission of protecting reproductive freedom in Virginia?
