Friend, every year, children’s needs around the world are growing, due to the devastating impacts of conflict, climate change, natural disasters and other compounding challenges.
400 million children today are living in or fleeing from conflict zones. And too often, they find themselves in a world that has become increasingly hostile to their rights.
But UNICEF is there working tirelessly in collaboration with partners — across health and education sectors — to help children caught in conflict.
This year’s World Children’s Day, take advantage of this 24-hour match and make 3X the impact to meet the growing needs of children.
World Children’s Day is an important day for all of us at UNICEF USA. It’s our chance to celebrate the progress and impact we are all making for children while recommitting ourselves to the work that still needs to be done.
Take a look at some of the challenges children are facing, and how UNICEF is supporting them:
In Sudan, children like 10-year-old Mohamed endure severe emotional stress witnessing firsthand the violent and devastating impact of the ongoing war. UNICEF is providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services to promote well-being and ensure quality and accessible care for children and their families.
To protect children against child labor in Côte d’Ivoire, UNICEF supports initiatives such as equitable education for girls, and also mobilizes women to collect plastic waste that is then converted into bricks to build local school classrooms.
Children in Syria face one of the most complex emergencies in the world, and over 7.5 million children need humanitarian assistance. Many children, like 1-year-old Amina, suffer from malnutrition and severe wasting. UNICEF has been providing ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTF) which are rich in essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins — strengthening children like Amina’s immune systems and recovery.
Friend, your matched gift today will help UNICEF provide nutrition services, mental health and psychosocial support and education to children in places like Sudan, Syria and Gaza — and help give them a brighter future >>
