High-Performing School To Close

Wauwatosa STEM was just ranked the fifth best elementary school in Wisconsin by U.S News and World Report.

While we should be celebrating schools that go above-and-beyond to educate children, the woke Wauwatosa school board is closing it down.

WILL is fighting back to keep the school open and will soon announce the next steps in our fight!

WILL Tackles Test Scores and Student Achievement

WILL released the following statement, after the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released new report card data.

WILL believes the legislature should rein in DPI’s ability to change accountability standards in education.

WILL Research Director, Dr. Will Flanders, stated, “DPI has rewritten academic standards so that the only expectation is mediocrity, and Wisconsinites must not stand for it. Continual changes to both the Forward Exam and state report cards have created a ‘Frankenstein’s’ monster of an accountability system that outright hides declining academic achievement. The legislature must act in 2025.”

This past summer, behind closed doors and under a veil of secrecy that even included the signing of a non-disclosure agreement, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction quietly took several steps that will lower academic standards for Wisconsin’s students — all with zero input from parents or lawmakers.

These unilateral decisions by State Superintendent Jill Underly will not only impact how schools are assessed but will ultimately leave parents in the dark about their child’s progress.
