We can stop Matt Gaetz—one of Donald Trump's most despicable and loyal
Cabinet nominees—from becoming the next attorney general. Here's why we
must.

Gaetz has a long history of deplorable behavior, including claims that he
raped a 17-year-old, and he was investigated by the Department of Justice
for sex trafficking of a minor.^1,2 He was also being investigated by
House Republicans for illicit drug use, misuse of campaign funds, and
accepting bribes.^3

This disgusting behavior may be a bridge too far—even for the Senate
Republicans who would have to confirm Gaetz.

NBC News just dropped this bombshell: "More than half of Senate
Republicans, including some in senior leadership positions, privately say
they don't see a path for former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., to be confirmed
as attorney general and would not support him to lead the Department of
Justice."^4

John, this provides us with a critical opportunity to block one
of Trump's most dangerous and underqualified handpicked candidates.

According to NBC News, "Gaetz's ability to be confirmed appears on the
rocks among Senate Republicans."^5

The news organization spoke with more than a dozen sources close to
Republican senators who said that "there are not enough votes in the
Senate to confirm Gaetz." Some sources even "estimated that closer to 30
Republicans consider him unqualified."^6

But Trump's team isn't giving up and is pledging to fight to the bitter
end to confirm Gaetz—even if it takes an ugly battle. Because they know
that Gaetz is beholden to Trump and will pander to his every whim.

John, we must win that battle and ensure Matt Gaetz NEVER
becomes the attorney general of the United States.

That's why MoveOn is preparing to launch big campaigns to stop Gaetz and
other Trump nominees.

In the coming days and weeks, we can:

* Pressure senators to reject unqualified and harmful nominees. We will
do this through petitions, calls, protests, and nationwide campaigns
raising awareness about the dangers these appointees pose.
* Run powerful ads that expose the risks of these appointments.
* Support grassroots movements and the communities most at risk,
fighting for justice and equality in the face of the policies these
individuals would enact.

But this work requires resources. And as a grassroots organization, we get
