This series is a tribute to the women who, despite enduring histories of slavery, immigration, and exclusion, have built lives rooted in compassion and care . Among them is the memory of Ayanna Smith, a domestic worker and fearless advocate whose tireless fight for justice continues to inspire us after her passing this year.
Photographed by Braylen Dion [[link removed]] , the series features six Black women who carry forward the legacy of domestic work as nannies, child care workers, and home care providers. Each portrait tells an intergenerational story, illuminating the enduring strength and love these women bring to their work and families.
Today’s action is simple: Take a few minutes to explore these stories and reflect on the legacy of care in your own life. [[link removed]] Let’s take action together by uplifting the labor, love, and leadership that has too often gone unseen.

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.
Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
