The story of MLFA beneficiary Hamid Hayat serves as an incredible example of coming through on a promise to defend an innocent man, no matter how long it took.
Convicted of a crime he did not commit in the aftermath of 9/11, Hamid served 14 years behind bars before his conviction was finally overturned. When MLFA learned of his case, we funded critical legal assistance over the span of 5 years to vindicate him.
It took many years, but justice reigned in the end.
