I want to take a moment to thank you for believing in me, for voting for common sense, and for demanding integrity in our government. But I also want to tell you what happened recently that shows just how much we still have to fight. Attorney General Kris Mayes just ended her ridiculous investigation into President-elect Donald Trump for exercising his First Amendment rights. Let that sink in for a moment. Mayes actually thought it was appropriate to open an investigation because Trump said Liz Cheney should have to fight in a war zone before pushing America into another conflict. Now, her office has suddenly “realized” that Trump’s comments are protected by the First Amendment. This is basic constitutional law — something every high school student learns. If Mayes needed an epiphany to figure out that free speech is protected, it makes you wonder just how qualified she really is. Folks, this is the problem with political hacks like Kris Mayes. They weaponize their office against political opponents and then pretend to have a “change of heart” when they get caught overstepping. They trample on your rights and then claim they didn’t know better. If Kris Mayes needed a “sudden realization” to figure out that free speech is protected by the Constitution, just imagine what other rights she might try to trample on next. We can’t let these people continue to chip away at our freedoms. You sent me to the Senate to stand up for election integrity, for the Constitution, and for the rights of every Arizonian.
