Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
RESTORING AMERICAN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
Domestic clean energy production is a key part of rebuilding American energy dominance and unlocking lower costs for families. However, geothermal energy is among the many energy sources subject to lengthy permitting requirements. This stalls valuable production for years which could be harnessed to help power Florida homes and businesses.
That's why I voted for H.R. 7409, which streamlines this process and exempts geothermal operators from federal drilling permit requirements for wells on non-federal land. The measure also includes exemptions for the burdensome permitting review stages required by National Environmental Policy Act. It passed the House and awaits Senate action. Click here to learn more.
VET FEST: CONNECTING VETERANS WITH CRITICAL RESOURCES
It was an honor to host our second annual VET FEST last weekend at Marchant field. This event supports Central Florida veterans, offering on-site resources from the VA, including toxic exposure screenings, women's health services, mental health support and more. If you couldn’t make the event but need assistance with the VA, call our office at 863-644-8215 or visit us online.
REPLENISHING SMALL BUSINESS DISASTER LOAN FUNDING
The Small Business Administration (SBA) announced it needs additional funds to continue assisting hurricane-impacted small businesses. Congress must immediately replenish the SBA’s disaster loan program to help Florida's small business community get back on their feet. I joined my colleagues to urge Congress to include robust funding for the SBA disaster assistance loan program in any upcoming disaster supplemental package. Click here to learn more.
