Thanks to one of our member’s submissions, this week, we’re recognizing Mary Cade from Monument, Oregon!
Mary was raised in Monument, Oregon and accomplished many life skills at an early age. She attended college to become a teacher and worked in the summer as a firefighter to pay her way through college, graduating debt free. Mary has deep roots in Monument and wanted to give back, so she applied for a teaching job there. When schools were closed due to COVID-19, Mary leaped into action and was reaching out to parents and students via social media and phone calls to keep them informed. But she didn't stop there. Mary and the other teachers also drove one of the school buses from house to house, delivering lessons for the upcoming weeks since many students don't have internet access in this rural area.
