Democrats suffered a setback this week in the special election in California’s 25th District.

It was the first time the Republicans flipped a California seat since 1998, and state GOP leaders are already using this as a proofpoint that the GOP is “poised for a comeback” in the House districts they lost in 2018 -- including right here in CA-49.

Our Republican opponent has also been emboldened. When he’s not discrediting recommendations from public health experts during this pandemic, he’s been ramping up his attacks on Mike.

Unhinged smears are nothing new for us, but after what happened in CA-25, Republicans got the glimmer of hope they needed. We fully expect Donald Trump and his dark money PACs to begin dumping millions into California races like ours. We need to be prepared:
