When I first joined FairVote Minnesota 18 years ago, it was because I believed in the power of democracy to truly reflect the will and diversity of the people. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) struck me as a game-changing solution: a way to ensure our elections are fair, inclusive, and truly representative.
Years later, that belief hasn’t wavered—it’s only grown stronger as our elections have become more polarized and divisive, and as more and more elected leaders don’t have the support of the majority of voters.
I’ve seen firsthand how RCV empowers voters, eliminates vote-splitting, and helps build bridges in our fractured political landscape. I’ve seen communities embrace it and experience elections where leaders win with broad support — not just narrow majorities. And I know we’re just getting started.
