Florida Congresswoman Val Demings is an ex-chief of police, a member of the House Intel Committee, and a former House manager during Trump’s impeachment trial. It’s an impressive resume -- in Demings’ own words, “I chose tough jobs. I have dedicated my life to public service.”
It appears Joe Biden has taken notice. The presumptive Democratic nominee has said that Demings is not only “really qualified and talented,” but also on his list for Vice President. Biden’s committed to picking a woman, and some progressives are calling for him to choose a woman of color with experience and leadership acumen -- making Demings an obvious choice.
For her part, Val Demings has said she’s “honored” to be considered. But the Congresswoman has likely made an enemy of Trump due to her part in his trial -- and we know the president doesn’t react well to women, especially women of color, challenging his authority. We need to know how much support Demings will have if she’s chosen:
