I hate to bring you bad news already, but bigots are already back to work (even though we're still counting votes!). Bigoted Congresswoman Nancy Mace filled legislation last night barring trans woman from Capitol Hill restrooms and appears to be targeting historic trans candidate Sarah McBride. Bigots in Ohio have already passed a sweeping anti-trans bathroom ban on college campuses , and bigots in Texas have filled 32 anti-trans bills already .
As LGBTQ+ Congresswoman Becca said today, "we all know this a petty, hateful distraction" and "There's no bottom to the cruelty. We have an obligation to push back." And she's absolutely right. In 2024, we elected a groundbreaking number of trans and LGBTQ+ candidates, and we're still fighting to help them win. Look, political leaders across both parties are trying to blame LGBTQ+ people - particularly trans kids - for election losses. But if we don't stand against transphobia and homophobia, they'll keep scratching away at our rights. First they'll target trans kids playing sports, then bathroom bills, then marriage, then workplace protections and the right to live openly. We've seen it before - we know what's coming.
