Sharing Information: Storm to bring strong winds to WA
Please be aware of a storm coming through Washington. For more information check out the National Weather Service website: Western WA Watches, Warnings, and Advisories [ [link removed] ].
* A powerful storm system will bring heavy mountain snowfall, rain, and high winds to the Pacific Northwest through midweek. Potential localized flooding, hazardous travel, power outages, and tree damage can be expected as the storm reaches max intensity on Wed.
* A High Wind Watch [ [link removed] ] will go into effect Tuesday along WA coast, Western Strait of Juan de Fuca, the east Puget Sound lowlands and the Bellevue area.
* Winds will be strongest below the passes. Wind gusts >60mph are possible beginning Tuesday evening in areas such as Enumclaw, Buckley and North Bend as strong downslope winds develop off the Cascades.
* The wind direction will be from the East and South East which is unusual and can be an additional factor for potential wind damages. (Normally, we get South or South West wind direction.)
* Winds have the potential to blow down trees and powerlines. Widespread power outages are possible.
* Widespread rain is expected during the day on Tuesday, continuing into the night.
* Significant snowfall is likely in the Cascades, with snow accumulations expected at pass level. Snow accumulation possible for lower elevations along the east slopes.
