The Unz Review Digest - May 15, 2020

Although our overall traffic significantly dropped following our recent banning by Facebook allegedly due to the 0.2% percent of our content republished from the VDare, an anti-immigration webzine, this loss was partially cushioned by the enormous readership that accrued to a piece by longtime conservative writer and pundit Michelle Malkin, which drew nearly as much traffic as the next five most popular articles combined, as well as nearly 700 comments totaling over 60,000 words.  For a brief moment, our overwhelming national focus on the Coronavirus epidemic was pushed aside by the controversial shooting of a black man in Georgia and the recent arrest of the white involved on charges of murder.  However, as indicated in the article, the key individuals promoting this narrative of murder rather than the previous police verdict of self-defense have long and sordid history of backing other high-profile and racially-charged cases that turned out to be fraudulent or widely misrepresented in the media, suggesting that we should examine the facts of this new accusation very carefully before forming any solid judgment.

Israel and its relationship to America were the subject of the second and third-ranking featured articles, with Philip Giraldi focusing on the overwhelming influence of the Israel’s supporters in American politics and society, while the Saker noted that the ongoing decline in American political and military power, probably greatly accelerated by our failed response to the current epidemic, may remove the military backstop that has allowed Israel a free hand in the Middle East for the last several decades.  Meanwhile, the fifth-ranking article by Eric Striker noted that a quite a number of the world’s most prominent “Holocaust survivors” are actually listed on the official records as having perished in the Holocaust, sometimes several times, raising deep concerns about the accuracy of that data.

Placing fourth was Israel Shamir’s discussion of the strong support for the worldwide sets of health lockdowns by so many of the wealthy elites, who are largely unaffected by the measures and will likely gain benefits from later taking advantage of the resulting economic collapse.

And rounding out our most popular featured articles was Fred Reed’s disquisition on the two-headed monstrosity that controls the American political system, exemplified by the only choice in November being between Donald Trump and Joseph Biden.

Finally, although it’s now dropped out of our most popular weekly pieces, my article from a couple of weeks ago suggesting that the Coronavirus outbreak was a likely American biowarfare attack continues to draw discussion, now passing over 1,500 comments totaling well over 200,000 words, among the most of any article ever published on this website.

Do you know who these two race-hustlers are? If you pay attention, you know that Black Lives Matter co-founder Shaun King (a.k.a. Talcum X, Martin Luther Cream, or W.E.B. De Fraud) and lawyer Lee Merritt are Morehouse College buddies who have been partners in anti-white, anti-cop agitation for upwards of two decades. On Tuesday, King... Read More

As the Beatles once put it, “I read the news today, oh boy…” One might argue that the “oh boy” has been part and parcel of one’s morning media review ever since 9/11, but depending on one’s own inclinations, the daily content might well be considered particularly depressing over the past several years. As regular... Read More
First, let's begin with a few (apparently unrelated) recent news items: The latest US PR disaster in Venezuela shows that the AngloZionist Empire truly is agonizing. While this is hardly the first that that a US "special operation" goes down in an embarrassing failure, but even by US standards this latest disaster in Venezuela is... Read More
Some people enjoy isolation and self-seclusion. The Jewish billionaire David Geffen is one of them. He posted the above picture of his yacht onto Social Media saying: “Isolated in the Grenadines avoiding the virus, I’m hoping everybody is staying safe.” It is probably very different from your self-seclusion, and surely different from the seclusion imposed... Israel's Yad Vashem is widely considered to be the authority on "Holocaust" history and remembrance. The organization claims to have millions of documents and testimonies proving that 6 million Jews were murdered during World War II. Millions of names of individual Jews purported to have been killed are commemorated at the museum's "hall of names,"... Read More
The genius of America’s totalitarian system of government is that it is not totally total, and sometimes not very totalitarian at all. It is just total enough. Truly total government--"Your papers, citizen," stop-and-frisk, permission needed to travel from city to city--might spark revolt. By contrast, a sufficiency of totalitarianism, but not an excess, keeps the... Read More

Amid the deepest economic contraction in nearly a century, President Xi Jinping had already made it very clear, last month, that China should be ready for unprecedented, relentless foreign challenges. He was not referring only to the possible decoupling of global supply chains and the non-stop demonization of every project related to the New Silk... Read More
A continuum exists in how to address the Covid-19 virus. On one end are those wanting to quickly phase out the lockdown (“a cure worse than the disease”) despite the mounting deaths. Opposed are Americans so terrified the that nothing less than total eradication of the virus will suffice. The first view typically rests on... Read More
‘I've implied the junction of the organic, the lively, the sweet – in other words, life, the orange – and the mechanical, the cold, the disciplined [the clock].’ Anthony Burgess explaining the title of his novel, A Clockwork Orange. As the coronavirus sprang upon us in the first months of 2020, it seemed possible that... Read More
Five months into the coronavirus crisis, there is no consensus about anything. When this virus was mostly limited to China, I tried to get as close as possible, so for two weeks, I stayed in Lao Cai, Vietnam. Nearly each day, I walked along the Red River to look into Yunnan, and what I saw... Read More
Just over a month ago I was riding high and celebrating the steady upward progress of our alternative media webzine. I proudly noted that our traffic had now far surpassed that of the venerable New Republic, a century old publication that had spent decades as America's most influential opinion magazine. But pride goeth before the... Read More
Once upon a time in the United States there was a consensus among national politicians that there were two areas where there should be a unified approach to policy. They were national security and foreign policy, both of which involved other nations, which made desirable a perception of unity on the part of the president... Read More
Last night the UK Prime Minister said that those who could not work from home, like those in construction and manufacturing should go to work today, maintaining social distancing, and avoiding public transport if possible. The situation surrounding the censorship of Southfront on Facebook has turned into a display of the stereotypical Big-tech super villain. Facebook has published a report justifying its actions, which is an egregious, textbook example of fake news. The report contains only disjointed accusations under the cover of meaningless words, and without a single example being... Read More
Noam Chomsky is, as this documentary notes, “widely regarded as the most influential intellectual of his time.” Given that Chomsky is on the left, it might seem that he has little to offer. But in many respects, his comments here reinforce many of the ideas linked to the populist right, although, as with the influence... Read More

Written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet, Network (1976) is a sardonic, dark-comic satire of America at the very moment that its trajectory of decline became apparent (to perceptive eyes, at least). Network has an outstanding script and incandescent performances, which were duly recognized. Chayefsky won the Oscar for Best Screenplay. Peter Finch... Read More
In a pandemic, there is no substitute for immunity, because immunity provides the best protection against reinfection. That's why Sweden set its sights on immunity from the very beginning. They crafted a policy that was designed to protect the old and vulnerable, prevent the public health system from being overwhelmed, and, most important, allow younger,... Read More
Back in 2012, the Trayvon Martin case was my first awakening as a budding young leftist to not only how wrong, but how blindly and aggressively wrong the left could be in its crusades. I remember studying the details of that case before it ever became national news. By collecting a series of locations on... Read More
From the moment I was born, I’ve wanted to write a 20,000-word tribute to Barbra Streisand, but this is not it, unfortunately. I’m still not ready. Instead, I want to talk about how we routinely distort, embellish or simply erase much the past, so what’s preserved and presented is not so embarrassing. It’s a universal... Read More
