A note from our editor.
Just two weeks post-election, we're already feeling just how chaotic, shocking, and exhausting the coming Trump administration is likely to be. With all that's coming at us, it can feel like we need to be in emergency mode all the time – but that isn't sustainable! These next four years will be a marathon, not a sprint. Practicing self care and community care is more important now than ever.
Remember that it's OK to not feel OK, and some of us might not be ready to take action yet. Get support by talking with friends and family, or step away from the news and try to get outside. Whenever you're up to it, the Sierra Club will be here to help you get involved.
Together, we will be a force of nature.

[link removed]

There's no sugarcoating this. A second Trump presidency will be hard and dangerous. As we grieve, we also need to recommit to fighting back to protect our communities and our future. The Sierra Club is preparing strategies at the local, state, and federal level to block Trump and the extreme MAGA agenda. We don’t yet know everything that’s coming, but we will need to be ready to act at a moment's notice. Can we call on you to get involved?

2) Time Is Running Out for the Senate to Improve Outdoor Access
[link removed]
Right now, the Senate is considering voting on the EXPLORE Act, which stands for Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences. This bipartisan recreation package includes a comprehensive set of measures aimed at promoting equity, inclusion, and expanded access to the outdoors for all Americans. It’s one of just a few environmental bills that has a chance at passing Congress before Trump takes office.
Send a message to your Senator asking them to pass the EXPLORE Act as quickly as possible.

3) Stop the Fossil Fuel Industry's Dirty Deal
[link removed]
The next few weeks before Trump and the new Congress take over are critical. Climate champions in the House and Senate must hold firm to protect people, not polluters. This includes saying no to the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, which would mirror many of the alarming goals outlined in Project 2025 and gut bedrock environmental protections.
Urge your Senators and House reps to oppose this dirty deal giveaway to Big Oil & Gas before it's too late.

1) Trump Is Coming Back to Power. Now What?

Leaving the Paris Agreement (again). Opening up public lands for oil drilling. Slashing rebates and tax credits for heat pumps and electric vehicles. Polluting our air and water. Stalling clean energy jobs. These are just some of the things we can expect Trump to attempt in his next administration. But can we fight back? Can we stop some of these harmful actions? Yes.
Here are six climate and environmental takeaways from the election.

2) Who Is Lee Zeldin?
[link removed]
President-elect Donald Trump’s selection to lead the Environmental Protection Agency is, in a word, unexpected. Trump chose Lee Zeldin, a little-known former Republican congressman from Long Island, New York, whose background on environment and energy issues is relatively skimpy.
Learn about the person who will be in charge of the federal agency tasked with protecting the environment and public health.

3) A Veterans Day Reflection on Outdoor Access
[link removed]
"As a Black man, I’ve operated under societal expectations, both physical and mental, about what it means to be in the outdoors. I served this country with the understanding that others sacrificed to ensure the next generation could find joy in the lakes, in the fields, and in the great forests of this nation. Nature can provide hope where none exists."
Sherman Neal II, deputy director of the Sierra Club Military Outdoors campaign, reflects on why access to the outdoors is more important than ever.
