Dear Friend,

For one week only, from midday Tuesday 3 December to midday 10 December, during The Big Give Christmas Challenge ([link removed]) , your donation to Full Fact will be doubled.

2024 has been a huge year for democracy around the world, and Full Fact has been busy. With the help of our supporters, we fact checked the UK general election at a scale never seen before ([link removed]) ; publishing analysis of seven party manifestos and producing hundreds of fact checks. We achieved widescale media coverage with Full Fact roundups, fact checks and staff interviews appearing in major national outlets like the BBC, ITV, Daily Mail, Independent and Evening Standard. This helped us reach a huge audience and provide people with accurate information on the issues that mattered to them ahead of polling day.

More recently, we covered the US election ([link removed]) , looking at everything from edited images and altered audio, to likely deepfakes and bogus news articles—all of which had the potential to cause real-world harm.

Donations made during The Big Give ([link removed]) will be matched by our generous pledgers and The Big Give’s champion funders, meaning your gift will have twice the impact in tackling bad information.

Looking ahead...

Following the election of the first Labour government in 14 years, Keir Starmer said that the public’s “lack of trust” in politics “can only be healed by actions, not words.” So for the first time, as well as fact checking what politicians say after they’ve said it, Full Fact will also be monitoring progress against what was promised in exchange for the public's votes. Our Government Tracker, launching tomorrow, ([link removed]) will help people decide if the government is delivering.

Your doubled donation will help:
* Fact check ([link removed]) false and misleading claims.
* Advocate ([link removed]) for a better information environment.
* Report ([link removed]) on whether the government is keeping its manifesto pledges.

The donate button will appear on Full Fact's Big Give page ([link removed]) when the challenge goes live at midday on Tuesday 3 December. In the meantime, please use the buttons below to spread the word.
