Dear Jack, 

From the Santa Cruz mountains to the Mount Diablo range, pumas gracefully roam our redwood forests. But like much of our wildlife in the forests we protect, they are in grave danger.

 

Puma numbers are dwindling. About 40 pumas are known to now wander the Santa Cruz mountains, and this number is getting smaller every year. As a result, the State of California is considering listing pumas, also known as mountain lions, as a threatened species. And unless we act now, pumas could soon become endangered.

 

With so much on the line, we need your help right now. Add your name to Sempervirens Fund's petition and pledge to protect redwood forests and save our pumas.

To protect these precious pumas from extinction, it is vital to preserve the redwood forests they call home. Pumas need vast expanses of connected land for territory, hunting, and breeding—all supported by thriving redwood forests.

And it turns out the redwood forests rely on pumas just as much.

Losing our pumas will no doubt mean losing a balanced and healthy ecosystem, including a regulated deer population and effectively managing the forest’s diversity of plant life.

Protecting enough connected forest lands allows pumas to roam freely and gives both plants and wildlife the best opportunity to thrive. Sign this petition to protect the redwood forests and save the pumas.
