Just today, Israel’s far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu banned Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering Israel just ahead of their planned trip to the region. This unprecedented move was egged on by Trump himself, as he lobbied a foreign government to deny entry to two duly-elected members of the United States Congress.

Because of Trump’s actions, the only two Muslim Americans in Congress will not be able to visit Israel. Rashida Tlaib will not be able to visit her own grandmother who lives in the occupied West Bank. This bigoted, short-sighted and cruel action calls into question our government’s blank check to Netanyahu’s government.

This is just the latest part of Trump’s concerted attacks on The Squad, and people of color at large. Will you help us fight back by donating $3 to help elect a new generation of progressive leaders in 2020?

This move is a critical component of Trump’s strategy to attack Rashida and Ilhan on the national stage — completing the self-fulfilling prophecy he hinted at on Twitter. Now, at rallies, Trump will claim that Rashida and Ilhan are anti-Semitic because Israel banned them from entering the country.

Criticizing human rights abuses and speaking out for the rights of Palestinians is not anti-Semitic speech — no matter how much Trump or his far-right allies try to spin it that way. But now, Trump doesn’t even need to concoct lies about anti-Semitism. Being banned from Israel is all he needs to convince the far-right of his agenda.

We have to fight back against this incredible attack on basic democratic values, and ensure that it doesn’t set a precedent about disallowing members of Congress who are brave enough to stand up for the rights of all Palestinians and Israelis. Will you donate $3 to help us win in 2020?

Because of Trump’s hate and division, Rashida will be barred from visiting any of her remaining family in the West Bank. That retaliation for political speech should never be tolerated.
