Put Bibles in the hands of new believers in Tema, Ghana
“I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 1:4-6
Hi John
For the last two years African Enterprise Ghana has been getting ready for a mission in Tema.
A bustling major sea port, Tema attracts migrants from Togo, Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. In this melting pot of cultures and messages, many are drawn to prosperity teaching, some trust in water spirits, while others turn to witch doctors, or seek an escape using drugs and alcohol.
Tema doesn’t always deliver on its promises. Mere survival can be a daily struggle.
Surprisingly, many people in Tema identify as Christian. Yet few have heard of God’s life-saving grace in Jesus Christ.
Over 91,000 people were reached with the gospel during the mission, and a remarkable 5,800 people dedicated their lives to Jesus. Praise God! As I write, our teams on the ground are beginning the important task of follow-up.
I want to invite you to give generously this Christmas to help put a Bible in the hands of every new believer in Tema.
AE partnered in the mission with over 100 churches in Tema. Starting with a huge city-wide street clean-up to practically show Christ’s love, hundreds of ‘missioners’ shared the gospel with people from many walks of life during the 10 days.
A profound turning point
I want to tell you about seven young men and a young woman who some missioners approached with empathy, while they were smoking marijuana together in a city back street:
One of the young men, Stephen, shared, “I had a bad day at work; my boss spoke to me so harshly that I couldn’t handle it. I felt overwhelmed, and I turned to smoking to calm my nerves.”
The team shared about the power of the Holy Spirit, who offers true comfort and solace. One of the missioners present explained: “A sense of hope began to emerge…ultimately, the group decided to give their lives to Christ, marking a profound turning point in their lives.”
God has transformed thousands of lives in Tema in the last few weeks. There is so much fertile soil for seeds of faith to grow.
But how will people like Stephen and his friends continue in their new-found faith?
Our mission teams will connect them with local churches. And we want to go a step further in these potentially vulnerable days and ensure that every new believer receives a Bible.
Will you prayerfully consider a generous gift to our Christmas Appeal, to provide a Bible for a precious new believer in Tema?
DONATE NOW ([link removed])
Your gift will enable new believers to read the Bible for themselves - so they can discern the truth - even as they are bombarded daily with all kinds of messages and promises.
Please pray for Stephen, his friends and the thousands of new believers in Tema to continue in their faith, carrying it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
Thank you so much for your partnership with African Enterprise.
In Christ,
Rev. Simba Musvamhiri
