There's no doubt about it -- this health crisis has transformed nearly every aspect of our daily lives.
Our grassroots movement isn't exempt from those changes either.
We spent months building up our strategy for 2020 and laying the groundwork to change our country for the better by defeating Donald Trump and electing Democrats up and down the ballot in November.
In the wake of this crisis, we've had to throw out the playbook and cancel all our in-person events, but our goal remains the same -- fighting for the Dignity of Work and our progressive values.
Every single aspect of our campaign has moved online. We're connecting with voters and spreading our message through social media, on the phone, in video calls, and through emails like this one.
As always, your health and well-being are my top priorities, so please, do what is best for you and your family. But if you're able to spare a few dollars today, please consider chipping in to grow our grassroots organization for 2020 and strengthen our fight for the Dignity of Work.
No matter what our grassroots movement looks like, it doesn't change the importance of our fight for the Dignity of Work. In fact, it's more vital than ever.
The workers who have been deemed essential -- health care workers, grocery store clerks, postal carriers, and many more -- aren't treated that way by their companies or, too often, by their government. Even before this crisis, many of them received low wages and had little power in the workplace, and now, many are struggling even more in the wake of reduced wages and hours.
Our fight for the Dignity of Work is about them and all of the workers who have been sidelined by President Trump's broken promises and phony populism.
Unlike Trump, our populism is real. It's never racist. It doesn't push some folks down to lift the top 1% up even more. It works for everyone.
Our average online contribution is $26 because this community is made up of grassroots activists who give what they can, when they can to fight for what they believe in. And when we all work together, we can create meaningful change in Washington.
So if you can, will you chip in today? It doesn't have to be $26. It can be $2 or $7. Any amount makes a huge difference.
With gratitude,
Sherrod
