Message from your local Mapperley ward Councillors
We hope this email finds you and your families well. As your local ward Councillors we wish to let you know that you are not alone in this crisis and that your City Council continues to work hard to help those who need it most.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we as your Mapperley ward Councillors have been supporting our vulnerable and NHS self-isolating and shielding residents. We have been telephoning vulnerable residents who need someone to talk to, checked that they were able to get their medication collected and have ensured they have adequate resources for gaining food through their time of isolation. We have assisted the homeless who required somewhere to say during this pandemic, working closely with our Neighbourhood Development Officers and partner organisations to ensure the most vulnerable were not left unsupported. And we have also continued to deal with many unwanted anti-social behaviour issues in the neighbourhood.
One of the organisations that we worked with collaboratively is the *St Ann's Advice Centre* which has on average provided more than 300 free food parcels a week which include toiletries, nappies, and childrens activity packs. Hot meals have also been provided by *YWAM Forge* which delivered over 60 free hot meals per week, every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday together while carrying out welfare checks on residents. *ACNA* has also been delivering free hot Caribbean meals to local residents.
*AGE UK* is another outstanding organisation that has been responsive with shopping, collecting and delivering medication, together with phone befriending. It has also been great to see the numerous volunteers who came forward during this challenging period, giving up their time and resources to support their neighbours.
A huge thanks to all of the organisations, there are too many to mention, together with Community Protection, Medical Students, GPs and the brilliant volunteers without whom we would be unable to support our community.
"Cllr Leslie Ayoola, Cllr Rosemary Healy, Cllr Sajid Mohammed"

How we have helped support people in Mapperley ward
This video shows the type of support weve been providing so far with amazing partners in Mapperley.
Gursharan explains how overwhelming and unreal it has felt during Covid-19 but also how amazing it is that so many people have come together to help people with food, medicine and even dog walking.
This is a really heartfelt story, huge thanks to Gursharan for sharing his experience with us.
Gursharan, Neighbourhood Development Officer for Dales, St Ann's and Mapperley
