Team, of all the attacks Adam has received from the far-right these past couple of weeks, this one has to be the most absurd.

Greg Gutfeld of Fox News went on two unhinged, ridiculous rants this week claiming that Adam is to blame for the coronavirus pandemic and resulting 85,000 American deaths. 

No, seriously. We can’t make this stuff up.

This guy is claiming that because of Adam’s work to protect our democracy and hold Trump accountable during the House impeachment, Trump was too distracted to act as any barely competent President would and prepare for the pandemic. Read his comments for yourself:

“He might consider for a moment that his ego-driven adventure in impeachment shoved the pandemic back into a closet which led to the surprise attack, which led to thousands of dead… It implicates Schiff in one of the biggest global disasters in history due to his selfishness, and his stupidity.”

Not only that, but Gutfeld, one of Trump’s self-proclaimed favorite Fox News anchors, said “something has got to be done about Adam,” calling for his removal from office, and even imprisonment. Anything to please Donald J. Trump. 

We know the truth, team: President Trump denied and downplayed the seriousness of the coronavirus throughout January, February, and March when he could have taken proactive measures to save lives. 

Instead of getting states the testing and PPE they needed, he repeated right-wing conspiracy theories that the coverage of the virus was merely a hoax, proposed cuts to the Center for Disease Control, fired key members of the U.S. pandemic response team, cut funding for the World Health Organization, fired whistleblowers … we could go on and on and on.

These same right wing personalities were on Fox mouthing the same falsehoods about the virus as it was spreading, saying it was no worse than the common flu, that it would go away on its own, and other dangerous untruths. 

Instead of holding Trump accountable for his acting irresponsibly and completely botching his administration’s response to this pandemic, the right would rather blame Adam.
