High-Quality Legal Services Update

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a final judgment that the Biden administration lacks authority to issue the Keeping Families Together Parole-in-Place program. Individuals planning to apply for the program should wait until further notice. At this time, no appeal has been filed and USCIS is not currently accepting applications. For individuals with pending applications, USCIS has stated that they will not adjudicate and if you have a biometrics appointment scheduled for this process, you should consider these appointments cancelled effective immediately. While this decision is a setback for immigrant families, this decision does not impact other parole programs, including Military Parole-in-Place. We will continue advocating for better policies at the local, state, and national level and utilizing all existing pathways we legally and creatively can. It would allow us to enhance our community education programs, empowering not just allies but also local immigrants with the knowledge and tools to protect their rights. Additionally, these resources would strengthen our advocacy efforts, amplifying the voices of those most impacted by unjust policies and advancing systemic change. Ultimately, this investment would directly impact our ability to strengthen our resources while ramping up to respond to the upcoming administrations’ proposed attacks on immigration policy.
