John –
Two weeks after Donald Trump’s win, one thing is clear: the far-right is dominating social media.
According to The New York Times, on Election Day, Trump’s posts received 10 times as much engagement on Facebook, 4 times as much on Instagram, and 3 times as much on Twitter/X compared to Kamala Harris.
This isn’t just a numbers game—it’s how Trump and MAGA spread lies and hate while setting the agenda for national conversation around the election. And unless we counter it, the right’s influence will only grow.
Since Trump’s loss in 2020, Republicans have spent four years building a MAGA media empire. Trump’s Truth Social, platforms like Gab and Parler, and Elon Musk’s MAGA-friendly Twitter/X are now key pillars of the right-wing ecosystem. Even TikTok’s algorithm frequently pushes conservative content to users’ feeds.
Meanwhile, mainstream platforms like Facebook and Instagram have de-emphasized political content entirely—giving MAGA less competition and even more influence online.
The left can’t afford to sit this out.
At COURIER, we’ve spent years building a progressive media network that meets people where they are—on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, and Threads. With 4.5 million followers and nearly 2 billion social media impressions in the 90 days leading up to Election Day, we’ve proven that we can counter right-wing disinformation with factual, community-driven reporting.
But we need to go even further. Trump’s re-election means the right will double down on its propaganda machine. To fight back, we have to grow our reach, expand our impact, and deliver the truth to millions more Americans in every corner of our country.
