John,
BREAKING NEWS: Trump just nominated one of the literal authors of Project 2025 to run the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).1
Brendan Carr has already promised to gut net neutrality, give away billions of dollars in government handouts to corporations like Elon Musk’s Starlink, and get the FCC more involved in policing online speech.2
We’ve set a goal of raising $50,000 from grassroots donors specifically to fight against the Project 2025 agenda at the FCC. Will you chip in to fight Brendan Carr’s attack on your online rights?
DONATE
If you remember Ajit Pai, the former Verizon lawyer who went viral in the worst way for running the FCC like its purpose was to protect Big Telecom instead of the American public, we’re heading toward more of the same.
But Brendan Carr is not just a lackey for giant cable and phone companies, he’s also alarmingly cozy with white nationalists and authoritarians. While he absurdly and falsely paints himself as a “free speech warrior,” he’s called for the gutting of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act because he wants more government control over social media platforms, and was one of the loudest officials calling for the banning of TikTok.3
He’s also champing at the bit to undo the few good things the FCC has done recently, and wants to change the rules to make it easier for telecom giants like AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon to discriminate against low income and rural communities.4
The incoming administration wants to weaponize the FCC to carry out personal vendettas and reward billionaire donors. We know how to fight them, because we’ve done it before: by getting millions of people to call, email, and file comments, and by pressuring members of Congress to rein in the FCC’s rogue leadership.
Will you chip in toward our “stop the FCC takeover” emergency fund?
TAKE ACTION
This is not about partisan politics. We fought back against corruption and bad policy at the FCC under the Obama administration, the last Trump administration, and the Biden-Harris administration.
No matter who is in the White House, we will always work to sound the alarm about attacks on your basic rights and freedoms, online and off. And we’ll keep building tools to make it easy for everyday people to make their voices heard in Washington, DC.
But we can’t do it without your help. Even a small donation of $5 or $10 makes a big difference for a scrappy nonprofit like Fight for the Future. Can you chip in today?
Thanks for all you do,
-Evan at Fight for the Future
