As you may know, in February of 2019 I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney
cancer and have been receiving immunotherapy treatments at the Mayo Clinic for
the past year.

 

Last week I attended one of my regularly scheduled checkup appointments at
Mayo and I am pleased to report that my response to treatment continues to go
exceedingly well. The immunotherapy is boosting my body’s immune system and
enabling it to identify and kill the cancer cells.

 

I’m feeling great, working hard and am very, very fortunate! Rest assured, I
will keep fighting cancer and fighting to re-elect President Donald J. Trump
and Vice President Mike Pence, take back the U.S. House of Representatives and
win re-election and keep Minnesota’s First Congressional District in GOP hands.

 

Since being sworn into office in January of 2019 (about 45 days before my
diagnosis), I‘ve held 26 Town Hall meetings, made 45 roundtrips to and from
Washington, D.C. and have not missed a single vote due to illness.

 

You can count on me to continue working hard and being an outspoken advocate
for commonsense solutions to promote the interests of southern Minnesotans.
Making sure all Americans have access to timely, quality medical care and
preventative medical screenings is one of my highest priorities.

 

Over these past two months, I have strongly and directly encouraged Governor
Tim Walz and other officials to safely and promptly reopen the economy,
especially our hospitals and medical clinics. Many of our fellow Minnesotans
have missed critical appointments and screenings needed to detect serious
on-going ailments such as late-stage cancer, heart disease and hypertension. We
must get all of our incredible medical professionals back to work so they can
deliver care, from life-saving to routine, to all Americans. The life of every
American is valuable.

 

On behalf of my wife, Jennifer Carnahan, and myself, thanks for your prayers,
support and encouragement. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail,
hopefully very soon.
