Last week, we helped block H.R. 9495 — a bill that would give Trump the power to investigate and effectively shut down any tax-exempt organization, including nonprofits like Bend the Arc.

But now it’s back and it only needs a simple majority to pass this time. Our members of Congress need to hear from us, urgently, before they vote again this week.

As members of Congress on both sides of the aisle feel pressure to fall in line for Trump, we need to remind them that the right to dissent is key to our democracy.

Last week, 52 Democrats shamefully voted Yes on the bill, but there is time for them to vote the right way this week. The vote is going to be close — that’s why ALL of our Reps. need to hear from us now.

Calls take just a few minutes, and they work. Last Monday, we heard only 50 House Democrats were prepared to vote “no” on the bill. By Tuesday, because of our movement’s pressure, we got that number up to 144.
