Dear friend, Across the globe, Mercy Corps team members and partners work tirelessly to respond to emergencies, deliver relief, and help families build a more resilient community in the face of adversity. In fact, 95% of the Mercy Corps team is from the country where they work. Today, we want to introduce two Mercy Corps team members and partners — Sibongani Kayola and Sali Abu Shaban — who provide a firsthand perspective on the issues impacting their communities and the work Mercy Corps does to improve lives. Take a moment to watch the videos and hear their stories. Sibongani is Mercy Corps’ Country Director in Sudan, where more than 10.8 million people are currently internally displaced and 2.3 million have fled to neighboring countries. She explains the large-scale humanitarian need that exists in the country and how Mercy Corps is helping displaced families with multipurpose cash assistance in order to access basic necessities. Listen to her story. Sali Abu Shaban is a Mercy Corps Partner team member working as a translator in Gaza. She explains the difficulties of restricted access to humanitarian aid in the country, as 90% of the population is displaced and is lacking shelter, food, water, and life-saving medical services. Mercy Corps has been delivering hygiene kits to families, where Sali helps facilitate the distribution. Watch Sali’s video to learn more about her work. Thank you for your commitment to Mercy Corps as our teams and partners work to support families in 40+ countries around the world. Thank you, The Mercy Corps team |
